Noma Nibe is an intelligent and daring woman who is pushing the boundaries in a male-dominated sector. She is a shareholder, Group HR and Business Executive Director heading a workforce of about 400 employees for Steloy Castings (Pty) Ltd .She has transformed the company in a period of less than 2 years and continues to advocate for change, equality and woman representation in her company and Industry at large. She’s a creative thinker, leader, businesswoman and a black industrialist in the manufacturing sector.
She has a BA degree in Industrial Psychology obtained from Rhodes University, a Bcom Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology obtained from University of South Africa and in January 2017 she will be doing her MBA with GIBS Business School.
In 2014 Noma Nibe Co- founded Luhlaza Foundries and Engineering (Pty) Ltd and Luhlaza Construction (Pty) Ltd. Both companies are doing well with shares in respected companies within the Steel and metal industry. She sits on various committees at the Black Business Council representing professionals and businesses in efforts to lobby government on policy advocacy in order accelerate the participation of black business in the mainstream economy. She is a member of the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA’s) Education and Training advisory committee. Noma is fast becoming recognised as a thought leader and public speaker, having addressed guests at numerous functions including being a keynote speaker at Africa Rail Evolution.
She is also a member of the Metal Chamber Committee at Merseta where she advises, monitors and gives input on Skills related matters at MERSETA. She also sits on the board of Bakara Engineering as a non Executive Director. She gives back to the community on her personal capacity through doing charity work with Door of Hope. Her goal is to mentor and empower young black women in the Manufacturing and Industrialist sector on leadership skills and industry skills and groom their talents to run such businesses.
In addition to all of the above, Noma Nibe is currently one of the young bright minds in South Africa who is the ambassador for One Young World on the basis of her capacity for leadership, concern about global issues, ability to generate and articulate impactful ideas, teamwork and evidenced commitment to volunteering or other extracurricular activities.
Noma is incredibly passionate about youth entrepreneurship, leadership, education and youth skills development in the manufacturing industry as she has identified huge skills gap which need urgent attention. She is interested in young African women who have potential to be leaders in their companies. She firmly believes that it is time for women in general to show that they too have a place in different sectors such as manufacturing, foundry, rail and construction industries. She believes women need to say that we too can be part of the decision making process in corporate South Africa and be counted. She would really like to see corporate companies in the country attract a lot of capable and competent females like her.
