Steven Avery, the subject of a 10 part documentary series on Netflix called, Making A Murderer, has now filed a motion for a new trial... This is huge!Making a Murderer on Netflix is taking the world by storm, the 10 part documentary tells a very thought provoking and revealing true story of how a man by the name of Steven Avery (53) landed up spending many years in prison after being convicted for crimes he seemingly did not commit. These include rape, attempted murder (later cleared through DNA testing) and 1st-degree murder of a photographer, Teresa Halbach in 2005, which he and his nephew were convicted for in 2007 of which they are currently serving life sentences. The show is intensely gripping, holds you firmly in its clutches which has you frequently thinking OMG! and WTF! when the documentary reveals the blatant and constant abuse of power by authorities in the small town of Manitowoc in the state of Wisconsin. The show is intensely gripping, it holds you firmly in its clutches and has you very frequently thinking OMG! and WTF! when the documentary reveals the blatant and constant abuse of power by authorities in the small town of Manitowoc in the state of Wisconsin.I won't say much more, I'd advise you to log on to Netflix (South Africa has Netflix now YAY!) and start watching it. If you thought people were glued to the Oscar Pistorius trial... YOH!... wait til you see this... basically, crack for couch detectives and Facebook Instant law experts who've had nothing to do since the Pistorius Trial 🙂Since the show was released people have signed a global petition on Change.org for President Barack Obama to fully pardon Steven Avery, however due to differences in authority between federal law and state law, it is not possible for the President to have the authority to grant a full pardon in this case.A previous request for appeal was rejected in 2011 by the state of appeals court (if you've seen the show this will probably come as no surprise) however in light of what the documentary has been able to reveal, and the incredible amount of support that has been gained, Avery is now requesting that the case is completely thrown out... somehow I don't think the state is going to be able to wiggle their way out of this one given the international focus now.I think its safe to say, certain individuals in positions of authority that have been involved in all this are no doubt, sweating like rapists right now...with a touch of nausea for good measure... EISH! 🙂Okes are gonna kak that's for sure...Attorney's Kathleen T. Zellner & Associates have joined Tricia Bushnell, the legal director of the Midwest Innocence Project to take on the case, Kathleen tweeted the following yesterday.
The 9 page letter of appeal is available to read right here in PDF format on Documentcloud.org.No surprise at all but Buzzfeed reported the following:
Visit w/Steven Avery at Waupon CC. He is identical to the other 17 innocent men we've cleared. Won't quit until he's out. #MakingAMurderer— Kathleen Zellner (@ZellnerLaw) January 12, 2016
The Wisconsin Attorney General’s Office could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday.Manitowoc County authorities have strongly denied claims that they tampered with or planted evidence and have insisted that justice was served.Yeah right...hahaha 🙂
