This documentary film tells the story of former South African Springbok captain and remarkable rugby legend, Joost van der Westhuizen. Kicking off with his dramatic fall from grace, being torn apart on the front pages of the nation's media where he once served with such distinction. For the fleet-footed golden boy of South African sport, there was no escape from the clutches of a scandal that cost him his marriage to Amor Vittone and very much left his public image in mere tatters.
These days however, with the scandal now a distant memory for most, he is tackling his biggest opponent yet, relentless and crippling motor neuron disease that has reduced him to a frail shell of the athlete everyone remembers him as. His inspirational bravery in facing his demons head on, and this debilitating disease, is the main focus of the documentary.
According to the press release, Glory Game is the moving story of “a modern day warrior forced to face his own human frailty. He shows us that beyond ambition, success and fame lies the true wealth of family and friends, and that within a ravaged body can surge the spirit of a survivor.” and in my own additional words, a true fighter, my personal superman. To book your place and tickets please email [email protected] ....tickets are limited to 100 and we are asking for a charitable donation per ticket. If I could sum myself up in one quote, I believe Steve Jobs said it best… “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes, the ones who see things differently, they’re not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Connect with me via:
