Springboks rolling back the clock… Horsja!
Finally the Springboks play some rugby we can be proud of! They held nothing back and completely blew the Fijians off the park. Bakkies mixing it up in the trenches (brought goosebumbs on my arms). Dannie running over every player in sight creating space for the outside backs to do their magic. Steyn at inside centre again was unbelievable. A scary stat think of is, every team that has won the World Cup have had an inside centre that played flyhalf at one point in their career. England 2003 – Mike Catt , SA 2007 -Frans Steyn, SA 1995 – Hennie Le Roux, 1991 & 1999 Australia – Tim Horan and 1987 New Zealand – Joe Stanley . Maybe a little food for thought for Divvy.
I'd also like to say well done on Ireland for proving me wrong and shows how far heart and a guts can get you in the Rugby World Cup.
New Zealand also sent out a reminder why they are the favourite, but the big question remains, are they playing the right team and game plan. How many teams have won the world cup with running rugby or by playing the percentages? Could this be their downfall again???
Picks for the week:
18 out of 20 so far and this week there are a few tricky ones in the pipeline.
Italy vs Russia
They have had a nice rest and will be looking to bounce back from the Aussie loss. Russia has only had 4 day break. Only 1 winner in this one.
Tonga vs Japan
Japan by 6
Japan got a hiding against New Zealand, but that is expected when you've got your B side out. This week I believe will be a different story and will get the win with their A side.
South Africa Vs Namibia
SA by 21
Namibia will be out to prove a point that they not just our friendly neighbours and will put their body on the line. SA will send out a Mix side of B & A team players. SA will win but it wont be as convincing as the Fiji game.
Australia vs USA
Australia will have a point to prove after the humiliating loss to Ireland. it will be a 50 pointer.
England vs Romania
England seem to be in cruise mode at the moment just doing what is need nothing more or less. They will win but not by a huge margin
New Zealand vs France
New Zealand 47
France I have the feeling are not going to pitch up for the game. Probably not even put out their best side. New Zealand all the way, they want this game bad.
Fiji vs Samoa
Samoa let me down last week but to their credit, 2 games in 4 days is a tough ask. They have had time to rest and will win this one.
Ireland vs Russia
Ireland will also take confidence from the Aussie game so will come out winners easily.
Argentina vs Scotland
One of the games of the weekend, I said in the beginning that Scotland will make a few Surprises in the World Cup. They have failed to flatter so far by my gut says this is the one game they have been working towards.
Wales vs Namibia
Only one winner in this game, Wales will take it easily due to the quick turnaround of games for Namibia.
