Welsh Rugby Ref, Nigel Owens felt what its like to get in the way of Schalk Burger in the Springboks vs All Blacks Tri Nations Test at Soccer City on Saturday... with a little bit of a face plant that they will be talking about for years after he retires...
During Saturday's game, as the ball was popped out of a maul in the hands of the All Blacks Welsh Referee Nigel Owens seemed to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was given a seemingly accidental shove by Bok Flank, Juan Smith falling backwards into the path of Schalk Burger, well first Schalk's fist and the the rest of Schalk taking a nice tumble-O-Faceplant grating pitch grass for a few feet.
Luckily, a shaken Nigel Owens got up and managed to ref the rest of the game, as as shown in the replay, his neck does bend somewhat which may have caused a more serious injury which fortunately didn't happen.

The game itself was an epic test with SA dominating for most of the game but the All Blacks managed to creep up and tie the scores 22 -22 two mins before the final whistle. It was in the final seconds that the All Blacks robbed the Springboks of victory by scoring another try and conversion leaving the scores 22 - 29 to the All Blacks making them Tri-Nations Winners for 2010.
Well done to our boy John Smit for 100th cap. Awesome support was shown by the fans with a record attendance for a Springbok game on Saturday.
